Greenbook Investment Management’s Jeffrey J. Mindlin Earns CFA Designation

Chartered Financial Analyst designation acknowledges professional experience and commitment to investment ethics and standards

January 18, 2006—San Diego, Calif.—Jeffrey J. Mindlin, Greenbook Investment Management's Director of Research and Co-Portfolio Manager for Discretionary Accounts, was recently granted Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) status by the CFA Institute. This highly regarded designation is awarded to investment advisors who pass three 6-hour practice-oriented examinations, each of which demands almost 250 hours of preparation.

“My main objective in obtaining the CFA designation, as with any continuing education program in which I participate, is to position myself to better serve Greenbook clients with sound investment strategies designed around each doctor’s unique needs,” said Mr. Mindlin.

While average completion time for achieving CFA status is four years, Mr. Mindlin was able to accomplish this goal in less than 24 months. A sample of the required curriculum associated with the Chartered Financial Analyst program includes: • Tools – economics, financial statement analysis, statistics, quantitative analysis • Asset Valuation – analysis of debt investments, equity investments, forwards and futures strategies, options, credit derivatives, alternative investments, currency • Portfolio Management – institutional, individual, performance measurement and attributing analysis, asset allocation

In addition to mastering this subject matter, a CFA candidate must have at least three years of professional experience in the investment decision-making process. And, as a Chartered Financial Advisor, Mr. Mindlin is committed to uphold the CFA Institute’s stringent Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct.

“I’m extremely proud of Jeff’s accomplishment and subsequent recognition by the CFA Institute,” said Craig Columbus, Co-Portfolio Manager and the Managing Director of Discretionary Accounts for Greenbook Investment Management. “There is no question of the commitment he has to our clients’ investment success.”

Prior to joining Greenbook, Mr. Mindlin worked as the Assistant Portfolio Manager and Senior Financial Engineer for Pinnacle Investment Advisors, LLC, which operated a hedge fund and a series of managed accounts for institutional and high-net-worth clients. Previously, Mr. Mindlin was the Manager of Financial Engineering at Gradient Analytics, assisting in the development of several successful institutional grade quantitative products.

Mr. Mindlin holds a BS in Economics and a BS in Finance from the College of Business Honor’s Program at Arizona State University, and received the prestigious Moore Award.
